The Taste of Japan | Family Mart Premium Ice Cream

Actually, I never went to Family Mart before. It makes me go there when I saw the Tiktok video about the Halal premium ice cream directly imported from Japan at Family Mart. So, I am really curious to try the ice cream from Japan because I can't afford to travel to Japan. So, What the special about it? How much does it cost? Is it really worth trying or just hype? Let's find out!

Vanilla Chocolate Waffle Ice Cream

The first Japanese ice cream that I bought from Family Mart is vanilla chocolate waffle ice cream. The first thing I noticed is the waffle. It is not hard and crunchy at all which I think is suitable for combined with ice cream. The vanilla ice cream itself is not really sweet. What I can say, is not the taste of Malaysia Vanilla ice cream which is sweeter than this. The chocolate is chewable and the taste is just like our chocolate ice cream. There used compound type of chocolate, not couverture chocolate. Overall, it is good but I think I would not buy it again due to the price is not worth it. This ice cream cost RM 7.90 each. It will be much cheaper if you buy it as a combo.

Matcha Waffle Ice Cream

The second Japanese ice cream that I bought from Family Mart is matcha waffle ice cream. It really tastes like matcha. The low-grade matcha which suitable for making ice cream. It is so bitter and earthy with a hint of creamy from the ice cream base. Not sweet at all. The matcha itself is not the matcha taste that we usually found in Malaysia which is kind of creamy, sweet and a bit bitter. Really represent the taste of Japan. Overall, it is good for you that don't really into sweets. I enjoyed it but the mouthfeel is really strong.

I planned to try more variety of premium ice cream from Japan at Family Mart soon.
